In Yolngu culture dance plays a pivotal role. There's ceremonial dance, celebratory dance and then there's Marryuna; to dance with no shame, to freestyle for the sheer elation of dancing. And Marryuna is indeed what we see in this fun video clip from Arnhem Land's multi-talented Baker Boy below. The track also features a hooky chorus thanks to Baker Boy's cousin and singer/songwriter Yirrmal. It's great to hear rap with a positive theme and Baker Boy serves it up with confidence and style.
We have just released "Rikka" by Wisconsin-based producer Aion on our YouTube. It's an entrancing progressive house track with beautifully crafted melodies and arrangement to transport you to another place. You can download/stream it on our New World album.
Californian band The Habits have released a great new single called "Ghost". It starts out with acoustic guitar and vocals setting the scene, before picking up into a catchy and dancey indie pop vibe. Comprised of singer/guitarist Wolf Bradley, pianist Chance Famighetti and drummer Andrew Macatrao who all grew up together and see each other more as brothers than bandmates, The Habits ground their music in bite size melodies that are impossible to get out of your head.
Following a string of great singles in 2017, East London artist Arlo has put out another fantastic single called Homecoming to kick off 2018. It stays true to his signature sound utilizing powerful rhythmic drums, soulful vocals and emotive melodies. We reached out to him and he had this to say about what the track means to him:
"It's ok not to be ok and it's ok to be unhappy or sad. Lying to yourself about it only makes things worse. Homecoming is a letter to myself to do better. It's true admission and self acceptance."
Catch Arlo performing live at Camden Assembly in London on June 5th. Tickets available here.
EDM producer Kraedt (pronounced "Crate") has released his new two-track high-energy drum-and-bass EP (huh, that was a lot of dashes). It starts out with quite an upbeat danceable vibe and then in the second track moves toward a more intense Pendulum-inspired sound. It's sure to get you moving, check it out below:
