J.B. Boone - Hico
J.B. Boone has released a feel-good new folk pop song called "Hico", the second single from his upcoming EP "Severe Adventures". He tells a funny story about the creation of the song in an interview with Buzz Music:
"I finished writing it about ten minutes before playing it for the first time at a show in Long Beach, and I decided to let the crowd name it. I asked a random guy for an adjective, and a random girl for a noun. The guy said 'pretty' and the girl said 'beef.' So for a while, I'd tell that story and then play the song as 'Pretty Beef.'"
"Later, as we got further in the recording process, the feeling I got from the song was one of openness, one that made me feel carefree. It reminded me of the feeling I had during a road trip in college with a bunch of my buddies to a ranch in Hico, TX. I decided to name it Hico (pronounced high-co), as a tribute to that."
Boone comes from a musical family and draws particular inspiration from his dad. Announcing the release on Facebook he wrote: "Hico is OUT NOW!!! This song means a lot to me, because I got to record it in the studio with my dad on the banjo."
