Magical Five for Friday: 18th May 2018
This week we have a special edition of our Five for Friday featuring tracks with magical soundscapes to sweep you away. As Dumbledore said, wiping his eyes, "Ah, music, a magic beyond all we do here!"

Artisan - Evergreen
In February, Minnesotan producer Artisan released their track "Evergreen" and it has since become one of their most popular tracks on SoundCloud, and we can see why. It follows in their style of crafting beautifully intricate soundscapes, but with a more orchestral focus. It sounds so familiar and nostalgic, yet equally a fresh creation. With its lush, sweeping cinematic instrumentation and strong lead melody, it is truly enchanting.
User "mikeytronic" on SoundCloud wrote of the track: "I genuinely want to cry like a child listening to this."
Artisan said on Twitter: "I'm actually blown away by the support of this track. I remember being super nervous to release this but I guess I'm glad I did. Thanks for all the support so far!"

Timmo Hendriks & Playheart - Solace
Netherlands based artists Timmo Hendriks and Playheart have teamed up to bring us their track "Solace". Solace can be defined as "comfort or consolation in a time of great distress or sadness." With its enveloping and warm progressive trance sound it shines brightly in living up to its title.
Both Playheart and Timmo Hendriks have been supported by major artists including David Guetta, W&W, Martin Garrix and Nicky Romero. Playheart was a duo until last month when the two, Kiet Kruiskamp and Daan Eikelenboom, announced they would part ways on good terms due to creative differences. While Kiet continues Playheart, Daan will work towards artist management, taking on good friend Timmo Hendriks as his first artist.

Xan Griffin - Aquarius
Last year Xan Griffin (a.k.a. Xan Langston, his RnB alter) began releasing songs representing the Zodiac starting with Gemini in May all the way through to Taurus last week; his final track in the series. The Zodiac songs plus two new songs will be released as an album next Thursday. Each track has featured epic artwork from Peter Mohrbacher depicting Angels to represent the personalities of the Zodiac. The artworks are available in limited edition print.
Xan wrote of Aquarius: "I dont think anyone realizes how proud I am to release this track. I put so much thought & articulation into this to represent the genius and innovation that Aquarius posses. I hope you enjoy."
Aquarius is a huge track. HUGE. It introduces its melody and tension with orchestral instruments and adds choir vocals to dial up the drama. Your eyes dilate as the electronic elements start coming in. You find yourself looking upwards as if the planet is suddenly in grave danger, and then BOOOOM! Like the Death Star pouring out its wrath on Alderaan, Xan unleashes a massive pitch bend climax.

Snareskin, Jaron & Creepa - Saga
Punchy snare connoisseur and producer Snareskin has teamed up with Adidas-addicted hand-gesturing producer Creepa and 6-string ukulele serenading producer Jaron to bring us their collaborative track "Saga". Jaron said on Twitter: "what started off as a simple soundcloud message nearly a year ago, turned into something special". And special it is indeed, with a fantastic dynamic that deftly alternates between twinkling melodic atmosphere and future bass drops.

Marcus Warner - Osprey
Marcus Warner is a talented cinematic orchestral artist. He's been busy over the past two years working on commissions, scoring for film and games (including upcoming firefighter documentary "Behind the Bay Doors"), studying, traveling, and working on his new album "39 Seconds" which will be released in October (hear a teaser here). In between all this, Marcus has managed to find time to release a separate single called Osprey available online and on Bandcamp. Osprey takes inspiration from traditional Irish music and is lead by Irish whistle. The Osprey, also known as the sea hawk, river hawk, and fish hawk, typically nests near bodies of water and hunts fish. Listening to this track you can almost feel the spray of Celtic Sea waves and smell the fresh air. It's a wonderful tune that starts off softly and soon makes you want to get up and dance.
