Rat City, Kiesza - Naked (With My Headphones On)
Norwegian artists Rat City have introduced a new character for the latest episode of their audio visual project, none other than the talented Kiesza singing vocals on their new single "Naked (With My Headphones On)". Like their previous tracks Kind of Love and Deliriously Good, they have put together a cool crime noir animated music video for the song with design and animation by art-lead Micah Monkey. Their videos commonly feature three characters in particular, Sam, Dean and Frank, mirroring the three core musicians behind Rat City, Kent & Cato Sundberg and Lasse Michelsen.
Speaking on the fictional world and characters they've created, Rat City wrote: "Rat City looks, from the outside like your typical urban metropolis, but behind the glitz and glamour it's exactly as it sounds -a hotbed of seedy characters stabbing each other in the back at every turn. Friends and enemies interchange fluidly as they let their primal instincts call the shots. Even the police are criminals here. One thing is for sure nothing is ever as it seems in Rat City."
"A shamed Detective turned Private Investigator, Frank has never given up on two things: a lead or a dame -both of which consistently leave him on the wrong end of a revolver. Still, that's has never stopped him from cracking a case. A thug in its purest form, Dean is nothing but trouble which is a huge asset for a nefarious underworld crime lord. Crime outweighs justice in Rat City, and you better believe Dean has something to do with all of it. Eccentric lounge singer Sam is always in the spotlight at the local Casino, when he's not selling secrets to one group or another. He has hand on the pulse of everything that happens in Rat City, and all the bad news that goes along with."
Speaking about working with Kiesza they wrote: "It was great to be back in the studio with Kiesza when she was in Norway this summer. We had the track going and she came along and added an amazing vocal and a great, tough lyric. She asked if she could be a character in the video as she is a big fan of the Rat City world so we wrote her in. We think it's our best track and video to date, we hope everyone likes it as much as we do."
