Danish artist MØ's anthemic new single "Blur", the fourth track from her brand new album "Forever Neverland" released yesterday, kicks off with an acoustic, alternative rock feel led by a glitchy sounding synth. Her vocals are honest and full of feeling, echoing out in the verses as if against the walls of a maze. The track is instantly recognizable, with catchy hooks throughout. MØ wrote of the track: "On a personal level I would be lying if I didn't mention that this song, for me, was about feeling creatively and artistically lost in the city of all great opportunities, Los Angeles." If you ask me, she's not lost, she's definitely heading in the right direction!
LA-based artist Max Frost has released his debut full-length album "Gold Rush" featuring ten boppin' tracks with his unique style of hip hop infused pop. Frost aimed to be as real and honest as possible when writing for the album. He said: "I stopped trying to control how cool my music came across and just be myself. I had to let it be open and direct and in-your-face." The fourth track "Money Problems" has an energetic, funky beat and fun, down-to-Earth vocals. Check out the album here.
The voices in my mind tell me Eva Shaw, DiJiTAL and Najja's new song "Voices" is a good one! They've teamed up and put together a super groovy bassline underneath smooth duet vocals from Shaw and Najja.
Canadian DJ/producer Eva Shaw has been putting out hits since day one when she signed her debut release "Charizma" in 2013 to Calvin Harris' label Fly Eye and featured on Tiësto's "Club Life" podcast. She's also got a love for fashion and has worked as a model. DiJiTAL likewise burst onto the scene to much acclaim, with support from Martin Garrix on his debut single "Little White Lies" last year. Najja doesn't have much of an online presence yet, but with quality vocals like this he's set to take off and we look forward to hearing more from him! Check out more of his music on SoundCloud.
German rock duo Chaos Commute have released the first single "Get Out" from their upcoming sophomore EP "Mirror". Get Out has blunt, aggressive lyrics sung with a fiery voice over roaring guitars. They will be launching the EP on the 23rd of November at Cassiopeia Berlin together with Baretta Love who are also releasing their new album.
UK-based hardcore producer Gammer's new track "Needed U" features fantastic dramatic synthwave production, emotive vocals and two banging hardcore drops. Gammer makes great use of pitch bends in both prominent and subtle ways increasing the track's tension, and the track ends with a dark bluesy outro.
Gammer wrote on SoundCloud: "I've always NEEDED U.
U the fans and the supporters.
U the ones who spend hard working dollars on music, shows and merch.
U are the ones I do this for.
I’ve always NEEDED U."
Aussie indie rock band Wharves have released their debut EP "Sooner or Later" and it's full of bumpin' basslines, well crafted melodies and fantastic vocals. The lyrics to the first track "Mo's Desert Clubhouse" lead singer Matt Collins explains, "were inspired by a roadtrip I took in May and the part owner of the Gold Coast arts venue Mo's Desert Clubhouse. She was explaining her frustrations with the local Council pretty much bullying them into closing. I can't stand how narrow-minded people in power can be, the arts are one of the most important things in life, without art, life isn't worth living. It's not a crime to dance." We love that! Check out the EP on Spotify and all major outlets.
Last Heroes, TwoWorldsApart and AERYN have teamed up to bring us their Earth-shattering emotive dubstep single "Eclipse". AERYN's angelic vocals float over beautiful atmospheric verses that build into massive, epic dubstep. AERYN wrote on Facebook:
"The words in this song speak about being able to recognize when someone is feeding you constant lies, trying to paint themselves into a perfect picture. They think they have you convinced, but you see through all their lies and you will not be fooled. You will not be manipulated."
K?d has released his debut EP "Find Paradise" dedicated to pushing the boundaries of his sound. He is currently touring the U.S., Canada and Australia in support of the new EP and wrote to Billboard:
"I did not want to stick to a specific theme for my first project, because I wanted people to understand that a certain genre does not define me. I grew up producing various kinds of musical genres trying to find a sound that I truly love and fit to, but I had eventually realized that I love all kinds of music too much to stick to one thing. I become bored too easily and feel like my creativity would be limited if I stuck to one sound or style. I guess my main goal is to push music to new boundaries, even if it means getting backlash for it."
"Electronic Memories" kicks the EP off with fantastic catchy vocals from Mickey Kojak and retro inspired, dancey yet emotive electronic sound design.
UK-based drum and bass producer Fox Stevenson has released punchy new track called "Bruises". The track keeps the energy moving the whole way through, opening with guitars and fast-strumming in the verse, stabs in the bridge, a catchy high-energy DnB chorus, and switching it up to a slower, swung rhythm section before the second chorus. The track features on Pilot Records' new "Destinations" EP alongside fellow DnB artists Feint, Ownglow, Vorso and T & Sugah & Bensley [...]
Los Angeles-based duo Neffex release a new song every Wednesday. And over the last 100 weeks they've released 100 songs. How that's possible I don't know, but they've done it, and they've done it well. The energy and passion in their latest hip hop track "What's Up" shows they have no plans of slowing down. Rap vocals take center stage and the double time at 1:22 is impressive. Kudos to them, we love it!
